Adani Group is planning two new cement projects in Assam, according to Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airports Holdings.
Speaking at the launch of Adani Power’s INR480bn (US$5.2bn) 3.2GW Chapar power project in Assam, Mr Adani said the group had two cement projects in the pipeline in the state, alongside investments in power, pumped-storage, airport and maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities.
No details have yet been disclosed regarding the location, capacity or investment value of the proposed cement projects.
The projects would strengthen Adani Cement’s position in northeast India, where Ambuja Cements has been developing limestone resources in Assam. The company has secured environmental clearance for the proposed South Boro Hundong limestone block in Dima Hasao district, highlighting the group’s longer-term plans to expand its raw material and production base in the region.
