SESCO Cement has received the first two bulk cement vessels at its Port Tampa Bay import terminal in Florida, marking the start of full commercial operations following the facility’s opening in June.

Both vessels are partially discharging grey cement at the Port Redwing terminal in Gibsonton before continuing to SESCO’s terminal in Houston, Texas. At Tampa, a purpose-built ship unloader and conveyor transfer cement directly into storage silos, while an automated system loads trucks for onward distribution.

The 14-acre Tampa terminal has 100,000t of storage capacity, according to SESCO. The company says the new operation will increase its ability to supply ready-mixed concrete producers and other customers in Florida.
