Malaysia’s Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd plans to invest MYR120m (US$29.4m) in a second production line at its Teluk Sepanggar plant, adding 550,000tpa of cement capacity.
The project has received board approval and an engineering consultant has been appointed. General Manager Sumardi Mohd Yusuf said the line is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2028.
The expansion will support rising demand and improve supply reliability by allowing production of 50kg bagged cement to continue if either line experiences disruption. It will also provide additional raw-material storage and facilitate maintenance.
