UltraTech Cement has increased its installed green energy capacity to 2024MW following the commissioning of 116.55MW of wind capacity at its wind-solar hybrid project in Barmer, Rajasthan, and 10MW of waste-heat recovery capacity at Sarlanagar Cement Works.

The company said it is the first Indian cement producer to exceed 2GW of green energy capacity for captive use. Its portfolio comprises 1580MW of renewable energy and 444MW of waste-heat recovery, together meeting approximately 48 per cent of its current electricity requirements.

During FY27 to date, nearly a third of UltraTech’s 76 Indian manufacturing units have maintained green energy utilisation above 50 per cent, while five have exceeded 95 per cent.

UltraTech is also deploying battery energy storage to improve renewable power utilisation and supply reliability. It commissioned 430MW of green energy capacity in FY26 and says it has made no investment in new captive thermal power capacity for more than a decade.

The producer targets an 85 per cent green energy share in its power mix by 2030. Separately, its RE100 commitment aims for 100 per cent renewable electricity by 2050.
