Gabon is preparing to launch a new integrated cement project at Malibé, near Libreville, with investment of at least XAF114bn. A foundation-stone ceremony for the Mondah Green Beach development is scheduled for 20 October.
According to Gabonreview, the project comprises a 3500tpd clinker line, equivalent to approximately 1Mta, alongside at least 1Mta of cement capacity. Hope Global Investment and Hong Kong-based Conch Investment Holding are identified as the partners responsible for financing, construction and operation.
The development aims to reduce Gabon’s dependence on imported clinker, strengthen domestic cement supply and potentially serve regional export markets. At least 200 direct jobs are envisaged, alongside local subcontracting and training opportunities.
The project follows an investment memorandum associated with the Gabon–China economic forum in September 2024. A commissioning date and detailed construction timetable have not been disclosed.
