Molins’ Mosusol-NetCO2 carbon-capture project at Sant Vicenç dels Horts, near Barcelona, Spain, has been selected for funding under the EU Innovation Fund’s Net-Zero Technologies call.
Developed with Enagás and Linde, the project aims to capture approximately 1Mta of CO2, including the biogenic fraction. The partners estimate that it could capture around 97 per cent of emissions associated with Portland and calcium aluminate clinker production, potentially avoiding up to 1.1Mta of CO2 emissions.
Molins will lead development of the plant’s capture system, while Enagás will be responsible for CO2 transport infrastructure. Linde will supply the carbon-capture technology and oxygen for oxyfuel combustion through an air separation unit.
The selection advances the initiative following Molins and Enagás’ announcement in February 2025 that they would pursue Innovation Fund support. Funding remains subject to signing the corresponding grant agreement. The partners have not disclosed the grant amount.
