Molins has completed the first transactions through its corporate venture capital arm, Molins Ventures, with a direct investment in Methanol Reformer and an investment commitment in Zacua Ventures.

Announced on 22 October, the transactions follow the launch of Molins Ventures in March 2026. The platform targets technologies supporting decarbonisation, industrial efficiency, circularity and new construction materials, particularly in Europe and Latin America.

Barcelona-based Methanol Reformer develops modular systems that convert methanol into high-purity hydrogen and electricity. Molins’ investment opens and leads a EUR4m Series A funding round supporting the technology company’s growth and international expansion. The release does not disclose Molins’ individual contribution.

The companies plan to test industrial applications, including energy supply and the decarbonisation of transport and logistics.

The commitment to Zacua Ventures, an early-stage investment fund, will give Molins access to companies developing technologies in alternative energy, materials, artificial intelligence and robotics. Portfolio companies will also be able to draw on Molins’ engineering expertise and testing facilities to validate and scale their solutions.

“The launch of Molins Ventures represents a significant milestone in our commitment to innovation and sustainability and is aligned with our long-term sustainable growth objectives,” said Marcos Cela, CEO of Molins.

“Technological progress is essential to addressing the structural challenges facing our industry. Through Molins Ventures, we aim to work with pioneering companies, accelerate the adoption of transformative technologies and create value for our customers, stakeholders and the communities in which we operate. At the same time, start-ups will benefit from our industrial expertise, technical capabilities and global presence across 18 countries and four continents.”
