JK Lakshmi Cement has deployed more than 70 electric trucks across clinker transport routes linking its Sirohi cement plant in Rajasthan with grinding units at Kalol, Palanpur and Surat in Gujarat.

The company reports that electric vehicles now undertake nearly all clinker dispatches between Sirohi and Kalol. It is working with specialist logistics providers SwitchLabs and Billion E to operate the fleet and plans to increase the number of electric trucks to 120 by March 2027.

JK Lakshmi said the programme forms part of its strategy to reduce emissions from logistics and support its target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2047. However, it did not disclose the distances covered, annual tonnage transported, charging arrangements or quantified emissions and operating-cost savings.
