US cement imports have continued to increase over the past year, with growth reaching eight per cent YoY on a trailing 12-month average basis in August 2026, according to BNP Paribas' latest Construction Compass report.

The report highlights the rise in imports as a key concern for domestic cement producers, particularly as US production capacity remains underutilised. Rather than addressing a shortfall in domestic supply, the growing inflow of lower-priced imported cement is placing additional pressure on pricing in import-exposed markets.

The report identified Cemex, Titan America, Heidelberg Materials and Buzzi as among the producers most exposed to this competitive pressure due to their geographical presence in markets accessible to imports.

The findings suggest that import competition will remain an important factor influencing US cement pricing and producer profitability, particularly in coastal markets, unless domestic demand strengthens sufficiently to absorb additional supply.
