TCI MAX Cement has deployed ABB Ability Expert Optimizer at its Srinagar cement plant in Jammu and Kashmir, India. ABB says the installation represents the region’s first use of advanced process control in cement production.

TCI MAX, part of Trumboo Industries Pvt Ltd, has integrated the optimisation platform and supporting IT infrastructure into the plant’s pyroprocess. The system combines advanced process control, model-predictive control and artificial intelligence to predict process behaviour and adjust key operating parameters automatically.

The installation is intended to improve process stability, clinker quality and operational efficiency, while optimising fuel and electricity consumption, raw-material use and waste generation.

TCI MAX said it had been encouraged by the system’s performance during commissioning and would continue working with ABB to realise its full potential. However, neither company disclosed quantified improvements in energy consumption, production, emissions or clinker quality resulting from the project.
