Chile's top three cement companies - Cemento Melon, Cementos Polpaico and Cementos Bio Bio - recorded a 3.7 per cent YoY rise in sales to CLP339.82bn (USD510.48m) in the first six months of 2016. CRH plc announces that its 1H16 sales increased by 35 per cent to EUR12.7bn and EBITDA more than doubled on the same period a year ago to EUR1.12bn. KHD's 1H16 revenue amounted to EUR66.6m, considerably lower than the figure for the previous year (EUR89.4m). Reasons for the decrease of 25.5 per cent are the relatively low order backlog at the beginning of the year, delays in project execution, reductions in order value and order intake that did not materialise in the 1H16. Buzzi Unicem announced that its net revenues for the first six months were up 1.9 per cent to EUR1261.3m from EUR1238.2m in 2015, while EBITDA grew by 33.5 per cent, from EUR166.6m to EUR222.5m. Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC) 1H16 results showed that growth slowed in 2Q16, due to lower demand during the holy month of Ramadan and June. Steppe Cement Ltd sold 761,771t of cement for KZT8190m (US$23,970.4) during the first half of the year, a rose six per cent compared with 717,654t of cement for KZT8277m a year earlier.
