Tanzania expects to double its cement production in the next few years as new factories come on-stream to satisfy growing demand from the construction sector, a senior government official said on Tuesday. South African cement producer Afrisam has concluded a settlement agreement with the Competition Commission in which it admitted that it took part in a cement cartel and agreed to pay an administrative penalty of ZAR125m (US$16.7m).
