Burnpur Cement has declared its inability to repay bank loans on Saturday due to demonetisation as its repayments had turned “irregular” with lenders because of “depressed” market conditions. Indian cement producer Burnpur Cement plans to invest INR5bn (US$75m) to expand its production capacity to 3Mta by 2020. "Presently, our installed capacity stands at 0.6Mta and we are planning to enhance the capacity to 3Mta in the coming 3-4 years," said the company's vice chairman and managing director, Ashok Gutgutia. Burnpur Cement inaugurates Jharkhand plant, India

Burnpur Cement's 800tpd cement plant in Patratu was yesterday inaugurated by Raghubar Das, chief minister of Jharkhand state, India. Addressing the gathering Burnpur Cement director, Ashok Gutgutwa, said the plant is based on dry-process technology. It is situated close to Patratu Thermal Power Station and within 10-15km of limestone deposits. It will produce OPC, PPC and Portland Slag Cement (PSC).

Burnpur commences trial production of Jharkhand grinding unit

Burnpur Cement has commenced the trial production from its new grinding unit at Patratu in state of Jharkhand, India, on 23 May 2015. Fully-fledged production will start next month. The company has clarified that only its grinding unit is ready to start the production. Trial production from its clinker unit will take some more time as it is still under construction.

Burnpur Cement Ltd (BCL), one of the largest integrated cement plants in eastern India, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand government for setting up an 800tpd integrated cement plant at Patratu with a total investment of about INR2bn (US$36.2m).
