Oman Cement first-half profit rises 23%

Oman Cement has reported a 23.01 per cent in net profit for the first half of 2012. Earnings rose to OMR9.02m (US$23.4m) compared to OMR7.3m in 1H11. Cement sales advanced 20.22 per cent to 1.36Mt in the six months to June compared to 0.94Mt in the corresponding period of last year. Turnover was up 13.11 per cent to OMR28.065m. New order for Cemengal in East Africa

EPC contractor Cemengal of Spain has been awarded a new contract for its Plug & Grind® ball mill technology by a customer in East Africa. The Plug & Grind is set to be operational by spring 2013. Cemengal said the new unit will “allow our Client to penetrate into the market rapidly, while minimising cement production and distribution costs.” Among the benefits of the Plug and Grind system are its quick erection time, flexibility and reduced operational costs, Cemengal said in a statement.

Ghacem to commission new mill by year-end, Ghana

Ghana’s leading cement producer Ghacem is to commission an additional 1Mta mill this year at its Tema Factory in November this year, according to the company’s managing director Morten Gade.
