KHD wins new order for 9000tpd ACC plant, India

KHD Humboldt Wedag International AG subsidiaries, Humboldt Wedag India, Pvt Ltd and Humboldt Wedag GmbH received an order from Holcim Group company ACC Ltd, India, for a new 9000tpd cement plant. The total project value, of €69m, consists of a euro portion of €19.8m and an Indian rupee portion equivalent to €49.2m. Holcim Belgique announced it will close its Haccourt cement grinding plant, near Liège, Belgium. The unit currently employs 43 people. Holcim to restructure operations in Europe

Holcim has said it will introduce a leaner management structure in Europe to reflect the lower level of construction activity,  and expects to save at least CHF120m (EUR97mm) a year. The additional cash costs for restructuring in the fourth quarter of 2012 will amount to approximately CHF100m (EUR80.8m) including site restoration costs. Thailand’s Siam City Cement (SCCC) has said it will resume operations of two clinker lines from next year on the back of increased local demand. The company is also looking to construct its first cement plant outside of Thailand. Two of SCCC's six kiln lines have been shut down since the economic crisis in 2008. Indonesian cement demand is seen closing this year 12 per cent ahead of 2011 figures, above previous expectations of eight per cent, but growth next year is likely to be impeded by capacity constraints, according to analysts at PT Samuel Sekuritas. Holcim approved the continuation of the feasibility study to build a new cement plant in Colombia.
