Paraguay: INC distributors complain about cement supply

Several Paraguayan cement distributors have complained about supply issues which sees them receiving only 13-25 per cent of their normal order volumes. The state-run cement firm INC is not providing sufficient cement and Cementos Yguazu has completely stopped cement supply. Paraguay: INC lowers cement price

INC has reduced the price for three types of cement. Vallemí cement will see a fall from PYG38,990 (US$8.34) to PYG35,000 while cement sold from the Villeta works will see its price reduced from PYG41,500 to PYG41,000. Pozzolana cement now costs PYG41,500, down from PYG42,500. The company is currently investing US$67m in a fuel conversion project, saving US$10m annually as well as increasing production by 8000 bags/day.

INC awards International Materials clinker supply contract

Paraguayan state-owned cement company Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) has awarded International Materials the contract to provide 60,000t of clinker. International Materials is based in the US, but this clinker shipment will come from Spain. The contract was scheduled to be signed this week it is hoped that the first deliveries of between 10,000t and 35,000t each will arrive in the first half of December 2014.

Paraguay river flooding reduces INC output capacity

Due to the flooding of the Paraguay River, Industria Nacional del Cemento in Paraguay will operate at only 70 per cent of its production capacity this week, said its president Jorge Méndez. Paraguay to inject US$67m in INC

The Paraguayan state will lend Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) US$67m to reactivate the company’s investments in its Vallemí and Villeta plants, which were on hold due to lack of funds.  The investments include a fuel conversion at the kiln of Vallemí as well as a new cooler and the optimisation of limestone grinding at the works. At Villeta, the company is reportedly investing US$7m in two new packing machines, to be supplied by Haver & Boecker.

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional de Cemento (INC) plans to launch a bid to expand the production capacity of its mill and therefore, increase the plant’s capacity by more than 8000 bags per day.
