Shree Digvijay Cement Co awaiting environmental clearance for Pachhtardi

Shree Digvijay Cement Co is currently awaiting environmental clearance for the 0.35Mta (ROM) Pachhtardi limestone mining project near Pacchtardi village in Taluka Bhanvad, Gujarat. The mined limestone will be used for use at the company's cement manufacturing plant situated at Digvijaygram (Sikka), Devbhoomi Dwarka district. Mining will be by fully mechanised opencast method. The estimated cost of the project is INR50m (US$733,593).

India: Sagar Cements sees sales dip in December

In a trading statement released this week, Sagar Cement has reported a slight decline in cement sales for December compared with a year earlier. Consolidated results – which include the firm’s BMM subsidiary – show cement sales dropping by 0.4 per cent to 154,196t. Sales at Sagar’s core business dropped more appreciably, being down 4.6 per cent at 100,054t. Dalmia Cement has won the right to mine limestone in Odisha, eastern India, the Times of India reports. Dalmia saw off competition from Adani Cement and Hira Cement for the limestone reserves, estimated at 98.7Mt. The winning bid will see Dalmia pay 12.05 per cent of the revenue generated from the mining operations to the state government.

UltraTech Cement, India, has proposed an expansion of the Aditya limestone mining project at Tehsil Chittorgarh and Nimbahera, district Chittorgarh, Rajasthan from 10Mta to 13.17Mta. The company has proposed expansion of clinker production capacity from 8.4Mta to 8.9Mta at the facility near Sawa Shambupura, district Chittorgarh. Prism Cement has released its financial results for the first half of its trading year, which began on 1 April, revealing a loss of INR50.62m (US$0.75m) over the six-month period.
