Al Jouf Cement appoints director general, Saudi Arabia

Al Jouf Cement has appointed Eissa Baissa as director general, effective 15 September 2013. Prior to joining Al Jouf, Baissa was general manager of one the cement companies operating in Saudi Arabia, Al-Jouf said without disclosing the name. Al-Saleh has a Bachelor Degree in mining engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. in business administration from University of Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

MPA names new chairman, UK

Bill Brett, chairman of the Brett Group, has been appointed chairman of the Mineral Products Association (UK) for the next two years. Najran Cement has approved the appointment of Mohammed bin Mani bin Sultan Aba al-Ala as board chairman and managing director, with a three-year term. The company also named Daifullah al-Ghamidi deputy board chairman.

Ashaka Cement appoints two new directors, Nigeria

Nigeria-based producer Ashaka Cement has announced the appointment of two new directors, the company said in a statement to the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The two new members are Lamido Abba Turkur and HRH Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kwairanga (Emir of Funakaye). Cementos Bío Bío appoints new CEO, Chile

Chilean cement firm Cementos Bío Bío has appointed Iñaki Otegui as CEO effective 1 August 2013, the company said in a filing to local securities and insurance regulator. Otegui replaces Jorge Matus, who resigned after 39 years with the cement producer. Cementos Bío Bío is Chile's largest cement producer with four integrated plants at Curicó, Antofagasta, Talcahuano and San Antonio and a total cement capacity of 3.28Mta.
