Lafarge acquires Kercim grinding plant, France

Lafarge has acquired Ciments Kercim's grinding plant, located in the bulk terminal port of Nantes-Saint-Nazaire, western France. The 0.6Mta Kercim facility, launched in spring 2013, had been led by Jean-Marc Domange, ex-president of the Syndicat Français de l'Industrie Cimentière (SFIC) and former head of Ciments Calcia, who died months later in October 2013 following a long illness. New Kercim plant to be built in Le Havre, France

Kercim, which opened a cement plant in Loire-Montoir last February, will start construction of a new works in Le Havre in early 2014. It is expected that the new 0.6Mta works will gradually enter service, first as a grinding unit supplied by imported clinker in 2016. By 2020, it is envisaged to run to full capacity. Kercim to begin production in 2013

Newly established cement company, Kercim will complete the construction of its plant, in Montoir-de-Bretagne, western France, by the end of this year. Production will start at the beginning of 2013.
