Cement exports sliding for the last five years to Afghanistan

Export of cement from Pakistan to Afghanistan through land routes has started dwindling from the fiscal year 2010-11. During that period it was hovering at 4.715Mt and made Afghanistan a leading importer of Pakistan cement. Kohat Cement expansion works on schedule

The installation of Kohat Cement Co Ltd's new 7800tpd grey cement line is making good progress at the existing plant in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan, according to the company's directors' report. Almost 70 per cent of the plant has been shipped by the supplier. Civil and erection works are progressing as scheduled, the 1QFY19 reported added. Kohat Cement Company Ltd (KCCL) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on 19 September that its full-year net profit for 2018 was down by 16 per cent to PKR2.98bn (US$24.1m) YoY. The company's local and export sales also contracted by one per cent to PKR13.43bn. Kohat Cement Company Ltd has recently ordered as many as four vertical roller mills (VRM) from Loesche to expand its cement plant in Kohat, 160km west of the capital city of Islamabad, Pakistan. Kohat Cement (KOHC) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that it earned a net profit after tax of PKR652m (US$5.6m) in 3QFY18 (January-March 2018) compared to PKR931m in 3QFY17, down 30 per cent. Kohat Cement Co Ltd (KCCL) has announced a fall of 24.9 per cent in profit YoY for the half year ended 31 December 2017.
