Graymont to acquire lime assets from Holcim New Zealand

Graymont, the Canadian lime business, has agreed to buy McDonalds Lime from Holcim New Zealand and New Zealand Steel for an undisclosed sum. An agreement has also been reached for Graymont to acquire Taylor's Lime assets from Holcim. Holcim New Zealand has confirmed its Westport cement plant will close by the second half of 2016 as the company now has all the final approvals to go ahead with its investment to build two 30,000t import terminals. The early stages of work are underway at the site of a proposed 30,000t cement terminal in Timaru, New Zealand. Holcim New Zealand confirmed its plans to build an import facility at PrimePort Timaru in December. Fiji Industries Ltd has started the production of cement today. The mill broke down two weeks ago resulting in short supply of cement across the country. Fijian Holdings Ltdd Group Acting CEO Nouzab Fareed said the mill is at 40% capacity and hopes to reach 100% capacity and 24 hour production by Sunday.
