Nicaragua: Cemex builds new grinding plant

Mexico's Cemex has begun construction on a new US$55m cement grinding plant in Nicaragua, the company said in a statement. The new grinding plant will boost cement capacity in Nicaragua by 440,000tpa and help to meet rising cement consumption. Cemex is expected to start construction on a new grinding and packing unit in Nicaragua. The new plant represents an investment of US$50m and will be implemented in two stages. Cemex Latin American Holdings reported a 2.5 per cent decline in first quarter turnover to US$383.3m, but the EBITDA did improve by 8.1 per cent to US$140.7m.
