Pakistan cement exports continue to disappoint

Pakistan exported 225,778t cement in April on revenues of US$13.49m, down 25.28 and 18.54 per cent, respectively compared to the previous month. Compared to April 2016, export volumes were down by 49.65 per cent from 507,958t and revenues fell by 49.65 per cent (US$26.31m) a year earlier, data from Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics shows. Pakistan dispatched 33.88Mt of cement during the first 10 months (July-April) of the current fiscal, up by 6.21 per cent YoY, latest figures from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) show. Pakistan's first state-of-the-art coal, clinker and cement bulk terminal has commenced operations at Port Qasim, Karachi. According to a statement by Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Ltd (PIBTL), bulk carrier African Finfoot became the inaugural vessel to call at the terminal, transporting 41,510t of coal for importer and exporter Awan Trading.
