The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday awarded 14 licences to various industrial groups based in Pakistan for the establishment of cement factories in the province. Pakistan cement exporters have earned revenues of US$12.24m on exports of 229,819t cement in February 2017, compared to US$22.268m on 411,257t of exports in the previous month. Flying Cement Company Ltd (FCCL) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that it has signed an agreement with a Chinese company for the procurement of plant and machinery to be installed at the cement producer's existing plant site in Mangowal, Khushab district, Punjab province. Total cement sales in Pakistan in February 2017 were 3.435Mt, down by 0.41 per cent from 3.449Mt during the corresponding month of last year, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). Pakistan cement exporters earned revenues of US$22.26m on exports of 411,257t cement in January 2017, compared to US$16.36m on 309,868t of exports in the previous month. These figures represent a MoM surge in dollar value and volumes of 36.05 per cent and 32.72 per cent, respectively. Pakistan: Bestway Cement awards Sinoma brownfield project

Bestway Cement Ltd informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that it will set up a brownfield cement plant with a capacity of 6000tpd clinker at its Farooqia site in District Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in northern Pakistan. According to Sehar Hussain, secretary and general counsel of the company, Bestway Cement signed an agreement with Sinoma International Engineering Co Ltd on 1 March 2017. Pakistan's cement industry performed well during 1HFY17, report local analysts. The industry's profitability soared by 12 per cent YoY to PKR29bn (US$276m), as compared to PKR26bn recorded in the corresponding period last year. Pakistan’s Power Cement Ltd reported a decline of 20 per cent in its profit after tax to PKR242m in 1HFY17.
