Maple Leaf FY15 profit boosted by higher dispatches

Pakistan producer Maple Leaf Cement boosted its FY15 profits by more than one-fifth to PKR3.5bn (US$33.55m), the company said in a filing to the Karachi Stock Exchange on Wednesday. Maple Leaf posted an after-tax profit of PKR3.5bn or PKR6.5/share in FY15. This translates to a 22 per cent increase compared with PKR2.8bn or PKR5.4/share in FY14. The earnings growth is attributed to higher dispatches and an expansion in margins which increased by 180 basis points, BMA Captial said in a report.

Pakistan cement dispatches rose by 10.24 per cent in August 2015 to 3.061Mt despite a 31 per cent drop in exports. According to the data released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), domestic sales during August 2015 increased by 28 per cent to 2.494Mt from 1.94Mt a year earlier. Lucky Cement Ltd reported net profit of PKR12.43bn (US$119m) for the year ended 30 June 2015, representing a 9.6 per cent YoY increase. Pakistan’s cement exports continue to fall

Pakistan cement manufacturers and exporters during the month of July 2015 exported 469,406t of cement and earned export revenue of US$ 27.52m compared to 508,541t at US$30.25m in June 2015. Lucky Cement Ltd is close to winning a permit to extract limestone in Punjab province, signalling expansion plans for the Pakistan producer, according to a report by Bloomberg. Attock Cement reported an after-tax profit of PKR2.21bn (US$21.7m) in FY14-15, up 9.5 per cent compared to PKR2bn in the last fiscal year. Pakistan: Attock Cement plans 3300tpd plant

Attock Cement Ltd has planned an estimated capital outlay of US$120m to install a new plant with a clinker production capacity of 3300tpd, securities analyst Sajjad Hussain at BMA Capital said. Currently the company has a cash and short-term investment reserves of PKR3.8bn.
