Shree Cement enhances capacity by 2Mta, India

Shree Cement Ltd has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that the company has completed the phase 2 of its new Ras new unit at Bangur city Ras, Pali district, Rajasthan. The project has enhanced Shree Cement’s capacity by 2Mta.

Shree Cement has commissioned a 2.6Mta cement mill at Baloda Bazar near Raipur in Chhattisgarh, India, on 24 February 2015, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange. Shree Cement’s eight cement plants in Rajasthan and one grinding unit in Uttrakhand have an aggregate capacity of 13.5Mta.

India's Bihar state cabinet sanctioned its approval on 21 November 2014 for the construction of a INR3370m (US$54.5m) cement plant in the Aurangabad district of Bihar, planned by Shree Cement. The proposed works will have a production capacity of 2Mta and include a 12MW biomass-based captive power plant.

The state government of Bihar has approved Shree Cement’s plans for a new cement plant in the Aurangabad district. Informing about the Cabinet decision, B Pradhan, Principal Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat told reporters: “The company had proposed to set up a cement plant with a production capacity of 20 lakh metric tonnes per annum [2Mta]. It will also have a 12MW biomass based captive power plant."

The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) today approved three new cement grinding units in the eastern state of Odisha. Shree Cement has entered into an agreement to buy Jaiprakash Associates 1.5Mta cement grinding unit in the Panipat district of Haryana state in north India. Shree Cement has commissioned a 2Mta grinding unit at Aurangabad in Bihar as part of its plan to gain a foothold in the east of the country. In a statement to the stock exchanges, the company said it had commissioned the facility on 30 June 2014. Prior to its completion, Shree Cement had a capacity of 13.5Mta. It has embarked on expansions to take its total capacity to 25Mta by 2015 aimed at consolidating position further in the north India market and establish a presence in the east.
