Saudi cement producers are beginning to raise production to contribute to the US$500 Neom megaproject, according to Mubasher. Tabuk Cement and Hail Cement lead the production increases in the 1H18, showing a 20 and 55 per cent YoY rise, respectively. Saudi producers sees sales drop 16% in August 2017

The sales of Saudi cement producers fell 15.5 per cent to 3.72Mt in August 2017 when compared to 4.4Mt reported in August 2016. Total production in August reached 3.79Mt, down YoY from 4.3Mt, according to Yamama Cement Co. Cement inventories rose 11.3 per cent YoY to 1.17Mt from 1.05Mt in the year-ago period. Saeed bin Saeed Obaid is appointed as the new chairman of Tabuk Cement, Saudi Arabia. He will succeed Khalid Bin Saleh Al-Shathry. Tabuk Cement said at its ordinary general meeting elected on Thursday, 26 January, the new board members for a three-year period.

Eastern Province Cement Co and Tabuk Cement are the latest Saudi cement producers to post a fall in third-quarter profits amid lower sales and higher production costs. Eastern Province Cement Co posted a 35.8 per cent YoY decrease in net profits from SAR67m in 3Q15 to SAR43m in 3Q16. Tabuk full-year net earnings decline, Saudi Arabia

Tabuk Cement' FY13 net earnings decreased 5.86 per cent in 2013 to SAR173.4m (US$46m) from SAR184.2m the year before. The Saudi-based producer said net earnings in the fourth quarter of 2013 also fell by 16.26 per cent YoY to SAR38.1m (US$10.2m) compared to SAR45.5m in the comparative period of 2012.
