Dixon plant reportedly set to reopen, USA

St Marys Cement Inc plans to reopen in Dixon cement plant in Illinois, USA, this spring, according to a report by the Dixon Telegraph. Company spokesman Steve Gallagher says the plant will reopen shortly after it is completely staffed by the end of March. He says it will have all required environmental permits in place. The company says the decision was made based on increased demand. Gallagher says the company plans to bring about 60 jobs to the area when the plant reopens.

Italcementi's 2014 turnover declined by a further 1.8 per cent to EUR4155.6m but the underlying EBITDA did improve by 3.2 per cent to EUR649.1m. Titan's turnover improved by 2.7 per cent in 2014 to EUR1158.4m but the EBITDA emerged 2.6 per cent lower at EUR181.6m. Following an 8.5 per cent reduction in the depreciation charge, the trading profit advanced by 7.0 per cent to EUR76.6m. GCC (Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua) reported a sales increase of 18 per cent in the fourth quarter compared to the same period of 2013, totaling MXN2546.1m (U$$170m), reflecting an increase in both Mexico and the US across all the company's products. CRH’s turnover increased by 4.9 per cent in 2014 to EUR18,912m while the EBITDA advanced by 11.3 per cent to EUR1641m. As the US faces ample natural gas inventories and high production, US gas prices are expected to further soften this year. “We introduce an end of 2Q15 target of US$2.25/mBtu and lower our 2015 US nat gas price forecast to US$2.85, from US$3.90 prior,” say analysts at BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research. Lafarge's turnover eased by 1.9 per cent to EUR12,843m in 2014 and the EBITDA came off 2.6 per cent to EUR2721m, having fallen by 9.4 per cent in 2013.
