The SEP is part of a consent agreement with The Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 in which Continental Cement has also agreed to pay a US$22,025 civil penalty to settle alleged violations of the federal Clean Air Act in 2007 and 2008. Fire at Lafarge Ravena works, USA29 August 2012, Published under Cement NewsA fire broke out at the Lafarge Ravena plant in Albany, NY on Monday as a rubber conveyor belt carrying limestone snapped and caught fire, according to John Reagan, public affairs manager for the Lafarge division. The blaze broke out after 2pm and it took firefighters about two hours to douse. The fire was contained to the conveyor belt was not in danger of spreading to the main cement plant.
