Tokyo Cement suffers LKR285m loss

Sri Lanka's Tokyo Cement Co (Lanka) Plc has reported a LKR285m (US$1.79m) loss in the March 2018 quarter compared with a profit of LKR911m a year ago. Group sales fell two per cent to LKR8.8bn over the period, according to interim accounts filed with the stock exchange. In the year to 31 March 2018, Tokyo Cement made a net profit of LKR2.27bn although sales were down one per cent to LKR36bn.

Attock Cement seeks gypsum/laterite supplier

Attock Cement Pakistan Ltd (ACPL) has invited a tender for the bulk supply of gypsum and laterite in  2018-19. Lafarge Czech Republic plans to invest CZK100m in upgrades

Lafarge Czech Republic has announced that it plans to invest CZK100m (US$4.54m) in plant upgrades. Half of the total amount has already been used in the reconstruction of the chimney flue gas filter into a more modern version which is 20 times more efficient, according to the press release. National Cement Co of Egypt recorded a net loss of EGP744m (US$41.5m) before taxes during the first nine months of fiscal year 2017-18, compared to a loss of EGP615.6m in fiscal year 2016-17. In the opening quarter of 2018, Cementos Argos reported an 8.2 per cent fall in revenue to COP1.9trn (US$670m), versus COP2.7trn in 1Q17. In the opening quarter of 2018, PT Indocement’s net revenue advanced by 1.9 per cent to IDR3439bn (US$244m), compared to the same period a year earlier. The first quarter of 2018 saw Anhui Conch improve its revenue by 37.59 per cent YoY to CNY18,766m (US$2943m), mainly due to an increase in selling prices. India’s Prism Cement Ltd has reported a 13.4 per cent YoY increase in net sales to INR16.14bn (US$238.94m) for the 4QFY18. EBITDA surged 40.3 per cent to INR1.69bn, while its EBITDA margin expanded to 10.6 per cent. However, profit after tax decreased 10.6 per cent to INR627m. Burnpur Cement announces net loss in FY18

India’s Burnpur Cement reported a INR39.5m (US$585,316) net loss in the quarter ending 31 March 2018, improving from the INR233.1m net loss of the year-ago period. Furthermore, sales increased 419.8 per cent to INR186.1m from INR35.8m. In the full-year FY18 period, the company recorded a INR444.9m net loss (FY17: INR597.7m). However, sales decreased 43.4 per cent to INR420.6m (FY17: INR743.4m).
