During the first nine months of the year, Cemex' turnover eased by 1.9 per cent to US$10,467.4m, while EBITDA was 8.5 per cent ahead at US$2138.1m. Eagle Materials' 1H16 turnover to the end of September, including its share of the Texan cement joint venture with HeidelbergCement, improved by 1.7 per cent to US$682m. Pakistan: Lucky Cement 1QFY2017 profits up 16%

In its financial statement for the first quarter of the financial year starting in July, Lucky Cement has declared profits of PKR4.04bn (US$38.6m), the Express Tribune reports. Siam Cement Group (SCG) has announced that in the third quarter of 2016 profits rose by 57 per cent YoY, but at the company's cement and building materials division they saw a decline of 19 per cent. For the nine months to the end of September 2016, SCG’s profits are up 28 per cent on the same period last year, but cement division profits are down 13 per cent. OCL India Ltd reported a 154 per cent surge in in net profit to INR857.1m from INR336.9m for the quarter ended 30 September 2016 as the company derived a higher income from operations. The total income from operations of the Dalmia Group company increased to INR7.192bn from INR6.138bn in the year-ago period. The total expenses increased to INR6,164bn over INR5.72bn in the corresponding quarter previous fiscal.

Lafarge Cement Jordan posts JOD2.75m 3Q16 loss

Lafarge Cement Jordan posted a loss of JOD2.75m (US$3.9m) in the 3Q16 against profit of JOD8950 (US$12,600) in the same period in 2015, according to a filing of unaudited 3Qfinancial results to the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE). The cement firm also posted a loss of JOD4.53m in the first nine months of 2016 against a profit of JOD5.5m in the year-ago period. Nine-month sales fell seven per cent YoY to JOD69.5m from JOD74.7m.

Egypt: mixed 9M16 results for Suez and Tourah

Suez Cement reported a net profit of EGP49.6m (US$5.59m) for the first nine months of 2016. For the third quarter the company saw losses of EGP-66.9m, an increase from EGP-63.3m the previous year. Tourah Cement improved its net loss by 50.4 per cent from EGP-107.203 in 9M15 to EGP-53.149m in Jan-Sep 2016, according to a bourse filing. In the third quarter the company reported a 43 per cent fall in net loss to EGP21.3m, compared with EGP37.4m in 3Q15.

Gansu Qilianshan Cement Group Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Sinoma, reported a net profit hike of 223.3 per cent YoY to CNY204m for the first nine months of 2016.

China Resources Jan-Sep net profit declines 35%

China Resources Cement reported a 35 per cent fall in net profit for the first nine months of 2016 as weaker revenues impacted profits of the Hong Kong-listed cement producer. Net profit in Jan-Sep declined to HKD838.3m (US$108m) from HKD1.28bn in 9M15. Revenues saw a 12 per cent drop to HKD17.48bn. For the three months ended September, the company posted a net profit of HKD580.8m, considerably improving on last year’s third-quarter net loss of HKD248m.

Saudi Arabia: Eastern Province and Tabuk Cement see fall in 3Q16 profits

Eastern Province Cement Co and Tabuk Cement are the latest Saudi cement producers to post a fall in third-quarter profits amid lower sales and higher production costs. Eastern Province Cement Co posted a 35.8 per cent YoY decrease in net profits from SAR67m in 3Q15 to SAR43m in 3Q16.
