Jamaica: Caribbean Cement to start 240,000t Venezuelan shipment

Caribbean Cement Company Ltd (CCCL) has commenced supply of a new 240,000t clinker order to Venezuela. The US$20.5m contract will run over an 18-month period and help boost export revenue from the Rockfort plant. The new order from Caracas extends a previous agreement that saw CCCL ship 100,000t of clinker between December 2013 and April 2014 in a US$8.5m deal. Decline in housing starts dent Moroccan demand

The first half of 2014 has seen cement sales in Morocco experience a 4.4 per cent decline to 7.435Mt, latest figures released by the country's cement producers' association, APC, show. Industry analysts expect Morocco to experience a further year of decreasing sales after deliveries to the domestic market were down 6.3 per cent YoY at the end of 2013. The Bangladesh cement industry saw its exports dip 6.64 per cent from July to December 2013. According to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau, the sector exported US$2.53m of cement, down from US$2.71m during the equivalent period in 2012. The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction said that cement consumption was estimated at 3.7Mt in February, accounting for 7.4 per cent of this year’s plan. The cement market remained subdued though producers continued to offer 3-5 bags of cement for free on 100 bags of cement. Iran reports strong export gains in first 11 months

Cementitious exports from Iran have risen by 35 per cent in value terms during the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar (beginning 20 March 2012), to reach a total of US$822m.
