Argentina sees 7% rise in August demand

Cement consumption in Argentina increased 7.4 per cent to 1.122Mt in August 2017 from 1.044Mt in August 2016, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The organisation also noted a 10.3 per cent rise MoM from 1.017Mt in July 2017. Dominican Rep cement demand slips two per cent YoY in 1H17

Cement consumption in the Dominican Republic fell by two per cent to 2,089,935t in the first half of 2017, according to the country’s cement association, Adocem. In 1H16 demand reached 2,132,312t. Local cement sales increased 5.5 per cent in value to RDS8.516bn. Output rose 0.5 per cent from 2,599,031t in 1H16 to 2,612,099t in 1H17. Between April and June, around 17.6 per cent of production was exported.

Monthly advance in Pakistan export revenues

Pakistan's cement export revenue during July 2017 increased by 25.02 per cent compared to the previous month but declined by 0.94 per cent on YoY basis, according to data released by the country's Federal Bureau of Statistics.   A breakdown of the figures reveals that the country exported 428,489t of cement with revenues of US$22.51m in July 2017 compared to 349,430t at US$18.01m in June, 2017. Peru’s cement dispatches edged up 0.6 per cent YoY to 0.777Mt in July 2017, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Domestic supply was supplemented by 100t of imported cement and 44,400t of imported clinker. Output from the country’s cement plants fell 1.2 per cent YoY to 0.827Mt in July. Argentine cement consumption edged up one per cent MoM and 19.8 per cent YoY in July 2017. Demand reached 1,016,590t. Imports surged from 982t in July 2016 to 8692t one year later. Pakistan achieved record monthly sales in July, increasing by 44 per cent YoY to 3.382Mt during the month led by robust growth in domestic demand. Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has proposed the export tariff be reduced to aid cement exports from the country. Vietnam's Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed export tax cuts on cement, while local producers struggle with high stockpiles, claims Viet Nam news.
