Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico grew by 3.5 per cent YoY to 6.3Mt in December 2017, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Argentine cement consumption increased 15.6 per cent YoY in February 2018, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The profitability of the cement sector in Pakistan has contracted in the 1HFY18, falling 13 per cent YoY to PKR26.85bn (US$258.4m). Pakistani cement exports during the first seven months of current financial year, July 2017-January 2018, recorded a fall of 15.4 per cent in volume and 18.7 per cent by value in dollars, says data released by Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics.
