Indian cement dealers expect volumes to decline 35-40%

Following the impacts of COVID-19, Indian cement dealers are expecting volumes for March to decline by 35-40 per cent YoY and April to be a wash-out, according to The Financial Express. Semen Indonesia Group and PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia (SBI) have posted sales of 3.095Mt in February 2019, a significant increase of 47 per cent YoY when compared with a sales volume of 2.106Mt noted in February 2018. Cement sales in Saudi Arabia remain weak and see a further downward revision in sector earnings for 2017.

UltraTech Cement reported that for the quarter ending 30 September its profits rose 25.27 per cent YoY. A consolidated net profit of INR6.14bn (US$92.1m) was announced for the July-September 2016 quarter, compared to INR4.9bn in the same period last year. Philippine cement manufacturers reported a 10.7 per cent increase in sales to 13.2Mt for the first six months of the year. Total cement sales in Saudi Arabia declined 27 per cent YoY and 39.6 per cent MoM in June, to 4.1Mt. Cement production in June was 3.66Mt, down 25 per cent YoY and 34.6 per cent MoM.
