Dandot Cement Co reported a loss after tax of PKR342.24m (US$3.4m) in the first half of the current Pakistan fiscal compared to a loss of PKR 380.42m in the comparative period of the year before. Cemex Lloseta completes environmental upgrade

Cemex’s 0.804Mta Lloseta plant in Mallorca, Spain, has concluded its US$16m environmental upgrade. The work included noise abatement systems, paving roads for heavy traffic as well as erecting covered raw material and coal storage silos. The plant also raised alternative fuel use from five to 35 per cent and installed more efficient burners, effectively reducing CO2 emissions by 3.8 per cent per tonne of clinker between 2006-14. The company now emits some 80,000t of CO2 less than in 2006.

Bosnia-based producer Tvornica Cementa Kakanj plans to invest BAM20m (EUR10.225m) to upgrade its facilities and improve its environmental performance. Tunisia: Ciments de Bizerte inaugurates plant upgrade

With the inauguration of its upgraded production unit on 17 June 2014 in the presence of the country’s industry, energy and mines, Kamel Bennaceur, Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte has increased its capacity by 50 per cent to more than 1.5Mta. The upgrade is the result of a TND250m (US$149m) investment programme which was initiated three years ago. It includes a modernisation of the plant’s dust control systems which will lower emissions to 20mg/Nm3.
