This year marks the 100th anniversary of Cementos Lemona, a company that has evolved from its humble beginnings as an independent producer in a small town in the Basque Country, northern Spain, to developing a sizeable export business, a network of operations spanning the building materials sector and now being part of international major CRH. Founded in 1917 and created as a public limited company, Cementos Portland de Lemona, was established around the same time as some of the most important companies in the industrial and economic landscape of northern Spain including Babcock and Wilcox or General Eléctrica Española. Of these, only the Lemoa-based cement company has managed to overcome the many obstacles that have arisen in the years since, and this centennial year presents the perfect opportunity to recognise and celebrate the many milestones and achievements it has experienced along the way.
