Progress at Padeswood

10 March 2025

Heidelberg Materials is progressing plans to create the UK’s first net zero cement works by building a carbon capture plant (CCP) at its Padeswood site in Flintshire, north Wales. The facility aims to capture and store up to 800,000tpa of CO2 from the existing cement works and is currently going through planning and permitting. Subject to consenting and approval of the Industrial Carbon Capture contract with the UK government, construction will start in the 3Q25, and the plant will be operational in 2029.
