Optimising AF co-processing

12 January 2026

The co-processing of alternative fuels comes with a range of technical challenges such as the variability of fuel properties, control of system stability and the impact on clinker quality. An integrated technological framework has been developed to overcome these barriers and case studies have shown that thermal substitution rates of over 60 per cent can be achieved, resulting in significant reductions of CO2 emissions while maintaining stable clinker quality. By Tang Yue, Xu Shuangying, Chen Tao and Liu Jian, Chengdu Design & Research Institute of Building Materials Industry Co Ltd, China.
