Call for nominations and submissions

The ICR Cement Industry Awards 2019 will acknowledge the outstanding achievements of individuals, teams and organisations for their exceptional performance across a range of cement sector activities.

Special recognition will also be given to companies that have contributed new research to further the sustainability aims of the global cement industry and for new innovations in technologies. 

Nominations are sought from individuals or groups active in cement manufacturing and associated technologies, including cement producers, technology or service providers and consultants.

Award categories are listed below. Submissions should be made by 31 July 2019.

The ICR Cement Industry Awards 2019 will be honoured at the forthcoming Cemtech Europe conference, taking place at the InterContinental Berlin, Germany, on 1-2 October 2019.

Award categories

1. Cement Plant of the Year

This award will honour the achievements of a cement plant demonstrating overall operational excellence and best-in-class levels of performance across key areas, including energy efficiency, alternative fuel utilisation, clinker substitution rates and health & safety.

2. Cement Project of the Year

 Award for the best cement industry project that demonstrates innovation, engineering excellence, and exceptional project design and execution. Qualifying projects will showcase outstanding examples of plant optimisation, modernisation or other upgrade activities.

Projects will be considered from all areas of the manufacturing and distribution process, including: quarry and raw material preparation, bulk material handling and storage, pyroprocessing and cooling, grinding and packaging, quality control, maintenance, process control & automation, alternative fuels, emissions control, logistics and distribution.

3. Environmental Excellence

Award for the best initiative by an individual or company to promote environmental excellence in the cement industry. The award will recognise projects, research or innovations which have contributed to the sustainability objectives of the cement industry, including carbon reduction, resource efficiency and the participation in the circular economy.

Nominations and applications

Please send a completed copy of the application form by 31 July 2019, including the following information:

  1. Name of project, company
  2. Project title and award category
  3. Project completion date
  4. Description of project/plant: 250 words
  5. Statement: why project should win this award?
  6. Reference: journal article and/or letter of support from project owner
  7. Applicant name, contact details and CV
  8. Confirmation that applicant or project representative will be available to attend the award event (Berlin, 1-2 October 2019)
