Çimsa, a leading cement producer in Turkey, has successfully completed a catalogue of upgrades and modernisations demonstrating best practice in all key areas of cement manufacture. Initiatives included waste incineration, adapting production methods to reduce clinker cost, adoption of alternative raw materials, waste water disposal, and maintenance planning to extend the life of its machinery. Its innovative development of DURO, an advanced calcium aluminate fluxing and purifying material for the iron-steel industry, has also eliminated the dependence of Turkey’s steel manufacturers on imported goods.

The ICR Cement Industry Awards 2019 will be honoured at the forthcoming Cemtech Europe conference, taking place at the InterContinental Berlin, Germany, on 1-2 October 2019.
