Holcim Indonesia has broken ground for the US$450m integrated Tuban works, which should come on stream in 2013.

Cemento Polpaico (Chile), 54.3% owned by Holcim, has sold a 6.67% in Minetti to Holderfin, a wholly-owned Dutch subsidiary of Holcim. The second largest shareholder in Polpaico, Gasco is looking to sell its 40.9% stake in the venture, with the parent company being a likely buyer, if the price is right.

In India, Holcim has raised its stake in the already controlled ACC to 47.37%. ACC produced 19.31m tonnes of cement during the first eleven months of the year, 1.0% less than a year ago. Sister company Ambuja Cements, on the other hand, increased delivered by 7.0% to 18.3m tonnes.

In France, planning has been secured for the new grinding centre at the port of La Rochelle, which will expand the geographical area covered by Holcim France when the 0.58m tonnes per annum facility is commissioned in 2012.

The Holcim-controlled Siam City Cement has formed a joint venture with the Cambodian company Chip Mong Group to build a cement works in Cambodia with an annual capacity of at least one million tonnes. Completion is planned for 2013.
