HeidelbergCement

HeidelbergCement has agreed to acquire majority stakes in three cement works in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from George Forrest, the largest private sector employer in the country.  The deal gives HeidelbergCement a 55% shareholding in Cimenterie de Lukal, near Kinshasa, and 70% stakes in two cement works in the eastern mart of the country. The combined present capacity is just over 0.5m tonnes, but there are plans in hand to raise the capacity to in excess of 1.4m tonnes.
