Cementos Argos - July 2015


Following a 59 per cent increase in profits in 2014, compared to the previous year, Cementos Argos has announced plans to pay dividends of COP44.5/share to its shareholders. Those with preferential shares will receive COP57.75/share. The company also intends to release dividend payments of COP253.30bn (US$96.06m) before the end of this year, as a result of the COP291.8bn profit achieved in 2014.

Meanwhile, as part of its sustainability and environmental responsibility programme, Cementos Argos has joined forces with the Alianza por el Millon (Alliance for a Million) project to help tackle deforestation in Panama. Through its subsidiary Argos Panama, the company has pledged to provide around US$100,000 to help reforest parts of Panama over the next 20 years. It is estimated that around 200km2 is lost in Panama every year due to deforestation.
