Cementos Argos - April 2016

Cementos Argos has entered into a deal with the local government of Bogotá to use 2.5m tyres as fuel in its cement production.

The company’s Rioclaro works can reportedly co-process 20,000tpa of tyres, equivalent to 1.5m units. The company already uses tyres as fuel at factories across Colombia, the US and Honduras and recently pledged to boost its contribution to energy saving in Colombia by supplying excess energy from its plants to the national grid and limiting the use of its mills during peak hours.
