February 2017 saw cement consumption in Colombia contract by 3.5 per cent, according to DANE, the country’s statistics office. Just over 1Mt was consumed in the second month of the year, compared to 1,045,900t in the same month in 2016. Cement production over the period also fell, declining 2.6 per cent from 1,076,500t in February 2016 to 1,048,100t in February 2017. Geographically, the largest decreases in sales in the 2M17 were recorded in Casanare (-36.6 per cent), Boyacá (-18 per cent) and Santander (-11.8 per cent).
