Sudden rush of material through the burning zone

Dear Clark,

What factors are, in your view, responsible for a sudden rush of material to the burning zone of a kiln even when operational parameters had ,hitherto , seemed very stable ? Does this have any relation to the rate of calcination ? If so ,how?

Re: Sudden rush of material through the burning zone

There could be many causes for such a sudden rush of material in the burning zone. Possibly the breakaway of some coating or a ring. A sudden change in feed chemistry or fuel calorific value. It is impossible to diagnose the cause without much more information.

Thanks

The theory of coating collapse or ring collapse does make sense. However another view is that this could result from the sponteneous discharge of a partially or fully blocked cyclone. Could this be true?
