Re: silos

hello every body ..

In my plant raw meal silo ...

Root blowers starts and stops according to kiln feed bin level....mean material is not coming out continuously ...it means we have homogenization silo......but supplier said it is CF silo ....

Re: silos

CF silos are provided with Active and Inactive blowers, besides the root blower that you have mentioned used for feeding the feed to kiln.Air is supplied to various quadrants of silo through a rotating cyclic valve.

You may pl.check up the specifications in the order when it was placed to supplier to verify whether it was a homogenizing or CF silo.

Many times cyclic valves Active, Inactive blowers non function if not attended in time with the result blending efficiency goes down and the material sets at the bottom of silo and does not come out continuously.A rat hole gets formed inside the silo through which the material comes out in surges.

You may have to take a planned stoppage of kiln after emptying out the silo. You would notice lot of material getting blocked in the silo which will have to be removed and total inspection of inside air slides may be required.

Re: silos

Hi Azhar, In CF silo the blower will start and stop accordign to the kiln feed bin level underneath the silo. The homogenization in CF silo is takes place in 2 ways. By extracting material  from different gates from the silo

In CF silo there are 7 gates for extraction. These gates have orifice plate installed just below the manual gate. Each gate is having different size. So the differential rate of material settling inside the CF silo will result in homogenization.

Again the material extraction start/stop based on the bin requirment. It is a continuously homogenizing silo. The blowers are used for aeration and extraction. When material is not extracted from the silo , the blower air will be vented out to atmosphere.

Let me know if u have more questions on CF silo

Re: silos

Hi Azhar,

CF silo extraction will start/stop based on the kiln feed bin level unuderneath the CF silo. That doesnot mean that it is workign in batchwise. It is  a continuos blendign silo. In CF silo blending is done in 2 ways.

1. by extracting the material from different gates and in cycle

2. EAch gate has orifice plate installed above the manual get. The size is different for each gate. This difference in material extraction from the silo will result in different material settlign velocity inside the CF silo. This give blending.

The aeration blower air will be going to the silo when the material is extracted from the silo and will be vented out to atmosphere when not extractign from the silo.

If u have manual for CF silo, pls go thru. U will get lot of information on that.

If u have any other questions on CF silo, let me know.
