Hello Norew,

This paper claims that the best calcination temperature is 700 - 800deg

However, I suspect that the best temperature is related to the type of shale used and would have to be determined/confirmed experimentally in each individual case. Tests would include pozzolanic activity, setting times, mortar strengths and normal consistency.
