The Consumer Market Control Service of the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan checked the cement market of Baku and Absheron to find problems with illegal packaging and forging, and sales of cement without due paperwork. As many as 500 sacks of fake cement branded as Garadagh, Special and Optimal, and 480 sacks of cement without any paperwork whatsoever were found at seven shops. Also, the Consumer Market Control Service discovered that some building companies were buying cement from Garadagh Cement but were not using it - they were reselling it in the market instead. Furthermore, a number of local producers abused the Garadagh, Eurocement, Portland and Volskiy cement brands. Lastly, the fake cement sacks were weighed and it was found out that they were 5-7 kg underweight.
